How it works
The operation of our Inline Meter is simple yet highly effective. Installed between the power source and the equipment to be measured, the meter calculates power consumption by measuring current and voltage. Measured values are displayed on a screen or transmitted to a monitoring system for analysis and reporting.

- Configuration Flexibility: Available in various configurations such as 1-phase 16A, 3-phase 16A, 1-phase 32A, 3-phase 32A, and 3-phase 63A, with freedom to determine cable length.
- Billing-Level Energy Measurement: Accurate measurement of energy consumption at billing level, including kW, kVA, V, A, and Power Factor per inlet.
- Powerful Remote Monitoring: Built-in SSL security and various protocols enable remote monitoring and management.
- Robust Processing Speed: Built-in processor with a minimum 100 MHz clock speed and 8 MB SPI Flash for optimal performance.
- Scalability: Up to 50 PDUs with Inline Meters can be cascaded via a single Ethernet IP address, allowing for flexible scalability.
- Mounting Options: Installable both vertically and horizontally, ideal for 19-inch server racks.

Cables & Plugs
Your Inline Meter comes with an input and output cable at the desired length specified by you. The cable, specially produced by Schleifenbauer, is LSZH-specified and ultra-flexible. An oversized diameter reduces heat generation and lowers energy consumption. In addition to the standard cable connection, a terminal connection can also be selected if desired.

Inline Meter G3 & Inline Meter 5.0

Schleifenbauer offers two versions of Inline Meters, each with a specific approach to local access of measurement data. Your choice between the Inline Meter 5.0 and the Inline Meter G3 depends on your technical preferences and the desired level of interaction with the device.
Inline Meter 5.0 – Display via smartphone (NFC)
Our latest generation of Inline Meters, the 5.0 series, is designed without a physical display. Instead, this version uses the Display App in combination with NFC technology, allowing you to securely access measurement data on your smartphone or tablet without being physically present at the rack.
This modern solution offers:
- Maximum flexibility during installation and maintenance
- Elimination of vulnerable display components
- Full local access to real-time energy data via NFC
- Hotswappable commnication module
Hardware interface Inline Meter 5.0:
- 1 Gbps Ethernet RJ45 port with status LEDs
- Two RJ45 data bus ports (in/out) with status LEDs
- Two USB-A ports
- Optional: second 1 Gbps Ethernet connection via USB interface
- Support for zero-touch provisioning (plug-and-play) for fast and error-free integration into existing network infrastructures

Inline Meter G3 – Local operation with integrated display
The Inline Meter G3 is equipped with an integrated display controller, consisting of an LCD screen and scroll buttons, providing direct access to measurement data and settings on the device itself. This version is ideal for environments where physical interaction and immediate visual feedback are preferred.
Hardware interface Inline Meter G3:
- 10/100 Mbps Ethernet RJ45 port with status LED
- Two RJ45 data bus ports (in/out) with status LEDs
- USB-A port for local firmware upgrades
- RJ12 connector for connecting temperature and humidity sensors, and dry contacts
- LCD display with scroll buttons for navigation and resetting local warnings
- Reset button for hard reboot or factory reset, without interrupting power distribution and while retaining configurations
- Support for zero-touch provisioning for simple and reliable deployment

Display
Schleifenbauer Inline Meter
The Schleifenbauer Inline Meter is designed for retrofit energy metering in data centres. Installed between the power source and the existing PDU, it provides immediate insight into energy consumption and load per rack, feed or end user, without changes to the PDU infrastructure.
The Inline Meter upgrades Basic PDUs without metering and PDUs with outdated metering or communication intelligence to modern, real-time energy measurement. It offers the same connectivity and integration capabilities as the Schleifenbauer PDU 5.0 architecture, including 1 Gbps Ethernet and support for open communication protocols.
Like the PDUs, the Inline Meter uses a modular communication concept. The Controller Module supports local management and DCIM integration, the Gateway Module moves the intelligence to the EnerTree Platform (DCEM), a licence-free virtual machine software, and the Daisy Chain Module enables efficient connection of multiple Inline Meters with minimal network cabling and improved rack security.
The Inline Meter is suitable for environments with a clear separation of responsibilities between data centre and end user, enabling energy insight for billing, capacity management and alerts without access to the customer PDU or rack.
