Remote Outlet Switching PDU for Data Centres

By controlling individual outlets remotely, operators can quickly reboot unresponsive equipment, perform controlled power-up sequences, and minimise the need for on-site intervention. This is essential in environments where availability, response time, and automation are key.

Remote Outlet Switching PDU is no longer just a convenience feature. In modern data centres, it plays a critical role in maintaining uptime, enabling remote management, and safely controlling high-density IT environments.

Schleifenbauer’s switched and managed PDUs provide precise outlet-level control and integrate seamlessly with monitoring platforms via protocols such as SNMP, REST API and MODBUS/TCP. This allows straightforward integration into DCIM systems and automated workflows, turning power distribution into an active part of the IT infrastructure.

Reliable switching with N-ZVS

Schleifenbauer PDUs utilise Near Zero Voltage Switching (N-ZVS), ensuring that switching occurs at the optimal point in the AC waveform. This reduces electrical stress during switching, prevents unwanted voltage peaks, and minimises wear on connected equipment.

The result is more stable switching behaviour, improved reliability, and an extended lifespan of both the PDU and critical IT infrastructure. This is particularly important in high-density environments where continuity is essential.

Energy efficiency with bi-stable relays

Our switched PDUs are equipped with bi-stable relays that only consume power during the switching action, not to maintain their state. This reduces internal energy consumption and limits heat generation within the PDU.

In addition, this technology prevents unintended switching behaviour during power restoration, contributing to a more stable and predictable power environment within the data centre.

Prevent peak loads with outlet switching delay

To manage inrush currents and peak loads, Schleifenbauer PDUs offer programmable switching delays at both system and outlet level. This enables controlled start-up sequences, preventing overload situations and ensuring an even distribution of power.

This feature is particularly relevant in AI and HPC environments, where multiple high-power systems are started simultaneously and controlled power-up is essential.

Designed for modern data centre environments

The combination of reliable switching, energy efficiency, and advanced integration capabilities makes Schleifenbauer switched PDUs ideally suited for demanding data centre environments.

Whether used for remote recovery, automated power management, or integration with DCIM software and the EnerTree DCEM platform, these PDUs support efficient and secure operations at scale.

Network security at scale

In large environments, managing hundreds of network-connected PDUs can introduce unnecessary security risks. Schleifenbauer addresses this by reducing the overall attack surface through smart architecture.

With daisy chaining, up to 100 PDUs can be connected while only a single IP address is exposed to the network. This significantly limits the number of network interfaces that require monitoring and protection.

Alternatively, a centralised gateway approach, for example via EnerTree, allows all PDUs to be managed through one secure interface. This setup functions as an out-of-band power management layer, physically or logically separating control traffic from the main network.

The result is full visibility and control over power distribution, without compromising network security.
