10-year collaboration between ENGIE Services and Schleifenbauer

ENGIE Services, market leader in technical services and part of the international ENGIE Group – the world’s largest energy supplier – specialises in designing, building and commissioning data centres and other facilities. Both in new buildings and when upgrading existing data centres.

In-house data centre

In addition to designing, building and upgrading data centres, ENGIE Services Zuid also operates its own data centre, located at Maastricht Aachen Airport. This in-house data centre makes it possible to test innovations directly in practice and delivers a wealth of information about the dynamics within a data centre. As a co-locating and infrastructure provider, ENGIE offers various server housing facilities for ICT within its data centre. For example, organisations can both lease suites here and make use of ENGIE’s Infrastructure & Disaster Recovery as a Service (IaaS & DRaaS) and Security- and Connectivity services.

ENGIE’s data centre is TIER III classified, which means among other things that customers benefit from an availability of at least 99.982%. This certification proves that ENGIE is a dependable partner for customers.

Partnership between ENGIE and Schleifenbauer

Schleifenbauer has been ENGIE’s supplier of power distribution meters and rack PDUs for the data centre at Maastricht Aachen Airport for the past 10 years. The power distribution metres monitor redundancy within the data centre in order to guarantee the availability of power. Most of the monitoring activity (about 75%) takes place in branch boxes. ENGIE has deliberately chosen Schleifenbauer’s DPM3 power distribution meter for this application because the compact 2 DIN design fits comfortably in the branch box. Various intelligent rack PDUs are also used.

Less than 1% RMA with Schleifenbauer

As a rule, reliability and availability are important priorities within a data centre and ENGIE is no exception. We are proud of the fact that less than 1% of the more than 600 power distribution meters and PDUs delivered during the past 10 years have been returned due to malfunction or a need for maintenance. This equates to an RMA score (Return Merchandise Authorization) of less than 1%.
