A pass-through is an electricity meter built into a circuit without any distribution taking place. The meter consists of an input, the metering unit with a data bus and one or more outlets. The pass-through can also be fitted with fuses, for example in the case of a 32A feed split into several 16A circuits. A fuse must then be fitted for each 16A circuit.
The pass-through can be of various designs, customised for the place where it will be mounted:
Outside the box – either below the box in the raised floor or above the box in the space between the power rail and the top of the box. For this application a design without a display is often selected, as the display cannot be seen anyway.
Horizontal mounting – a 19" (full width) or 9.5" (half width) model can be selected. The input and outlets are located at the back. The display is on the front side for reading out in the box, as well as the data bus connection. If necessary the pass-through can be designed with a double depth, if this is necessary for fitting the wiring.
Vertical mounting, where the inputs and outlets are located on the top side of the profile.
